Autism

This blog is usually not serious at all, but I recently read a poem about this author's little sister, and it just made me cry.
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Autism by J.L.M.

Mommy, why are you crying?
You're hugging me real tight
You're saying that it's okay
That everything will be all right
--------------------------------
Daddy, why do you look so sad?
You're telling Mommy it's okay
Lately, you've been comforting her
Every single day
--------------------------------
Mommy why are you talking to my sisters?
Why have their eyes gone wide?
I don't know what's happening
Is it because they know you cried?
--------------------------------
Andy, why is there pain in your eyes?
Did Mommy upset you in some way?
I can tell you're frustrated
What did Mommy say?
--------------------------------
Jazzy, why are you looking at me
With such sadness in your eyes?
I feel the love and sorrow
In your touch and sighs
--------------------------------
Mommy, what's a therapist?
Who are these people in our house?
Mommy, don't leave me with them!
I'm really scared and I will shout
--------------------------------
Mommy, you can't understand
Why don't you know what I want?
You seem very frustrated
You some thoughts do haunt
--------------------------------
Mommy, why do you scream at me
When I don't comprehend?
You call me names that hurt
Though you don't mean them in the end.
--------------------------------
Mommy what is illness
Has someone had it for long?
Is it my fault you're crying, Mommy?
Did I do something wrong?
--------------------------------
I love my family very much
Their beauty like a prism
But Mommy, I have one question:
What is autism?
