What do dreams mean?

Jewel awoke quite aflutter. She had just awoken from a dream-a very strange dream. Though able to read for the majority of her life, yea, she learned to read at the age of four when her peers learned at five, due to a quirk at a preschool, her nightmare had caused her to believe that she was no longer able to read a letter. Heart racing at strange speeds, she vaulted out of bed, leaping for the alarm and snapping it off and she glanced at the titles of the books on the desk. English, French, History. At least she could read that.

In her dream, she had been 11 years old and unable to read, so had opted to take a correspondance course. However, when the envelope appeared, she had been unable to tell that it was addressed to her, let alone what the contents said. All in all, it had been a very strange dream. Or was it?

If anyone can tell the author what this dream means, she would be much obliged.
